80, was reunited on March 25th with his beloved son Brian who was lost years earlier in an accident. He was the treasured husband of Patricia (Nassaney) Keefe and they were happily married for 52 years. William passed away peacefully in his home with his loving family at his side after a four year battle with cancer. Well known for his hilarious tales of Cumberland and Irish humor, William kept a large group of friends from early childhood until his passing. Through it all William never lost his sense of humor and always retained his good nature. He was the son of Henry and Irene (Brady) Keefe and spent his early years in Ashton. William served in the U.S. Army and was part of the unit that desegregated schools in Little Rock, AK. He worked as a public accountant for 30 years before retiring as the Supervising Accountant for the RI Dept. of Health.
Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter, Dr. Kathleen Keefe-Cooperman (Andrew) of Tappan, NY and son, Stephen L. Keefe, Esq. (Catherine) of Ramsey, NJ. His grandchildren, Jessa & Jenna Cooperman and William & Matthew Keefe, were the pride of his life and provided so much comfort as well as joy. William is survived by sisters Dr. Marjorie Keefe and Elaine Lapre as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by brothers, Henry, Donald and Paul.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 31st from 1:00 until 3:00 PM followed by a service with military honors at 3:00 PM in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, RI. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of RI, 1085 North Main St. Providence RI 02903.
